The Truth About the Lies You Live By

and why it's time to stop letting false beliefs control you

So…I know I’ve been posting a LOT lately. Honestly, at this point, I could probably write a book based on everything I’ve shared. But then I had an epiphany. People don’t really read that much—and as much as that hurts my soul— it’s actually totally fine!
Some of us do read, but if we all really did, why on earth did

add a video feature? Why do we all spend hours mindlessly scrolling and watching videos, instead of actually reading a book? I get it—there’s just so much info out there. It’s like information overload.

I’m here to take up space. I’m writing from my heart, and if you’re not going to read it, I’m going to use my goddess-given vocal cords to drill it into your brain. Into your ears, through your soul—wherever it sticks. Because I’m not holding back. 😏

Btw, if this resonates with you, comment, subscribe, share this with someone who needs it, and hey—gift a subscription to your friend who always says, “I need more joy in my life” but never gets around to creating it.

We’ve Been Lying to Ourselves

We’ve all been lying to ourselves for so long that we no longer even question it. These lies feel like part of the air we breathe, like the background noise of life. And the truth is, they didn’t come out of nowhere—they’ve been handed to us by a system designed to keep us small, distracted, and compliant. Capitalism, patriarchy, and the world that tells us to always be busy, always be giving, and always be striving for perfection.

These lies are more than just mental obstacles. They’re stories that get woven into our sense of self. They make us believe we’re not good enough, that we don’t have enough time, that we’re too late to make a difference. But here's the truth: You’ve been conditioned. And you can break free.

Let’s break down these lies, one by one.

Lie #1: "I Don’t Have Time."

The truth: You have time.
You just don’t prioritize it.
We live in a society that idolizes productivity. Capitalism thrives on the belief that the more you produce, the more valuable you are. And guess what? That narrative has trickled into your life, making you believe that your worth is tied to how much you do.

But let’s get real: the time is there. The issue is how you’re spending it. Think about the hours you spend scrolling through social media, watching mindless videos, or checking your email for the tenth time today. Couldn’t some of that be reallocated to something that serves your growth, your health, your goals?

Action Step:
Audit your time for the next week. (comment or message me if you need a time tracker)
Write down everything you do, and notice where you waste time. Once you see it, make a conscious decision to redirect just 30 minutes a day into something you really want to do—whether it’s creating, reading, or just breathing deeply and resting. If 30 minutes is too much, try five minutes and set a timer.

Lie #2: "I Can’t Afford It."

The truth: It’s not about money. It’s about prioritizing.
We’ve all used this one. “I can’t afford it.” But when we really look at how we spend our money, we find that we’ve been buying things that we don’t need. Clothes we never wear, food we don’t finish, subscriptions we barely use. It’s easy to fall into the trap of believing that we can’t afford things that will move us forward because we’ve been taught that “working harder for more” is the way to success.

Here’s the kicker: Living a rich life isn’t about money—it’s about what you value and what you’re willing to invest in. You can afford what you prioritize.

Action Step:
Take a hard look at your bank statements.
Where can you cut back? Whether it’s food delivery, impulse shopping, or subscriptions you’ve forgotten about, reallocate that money into something that helps you grow—a course, a workshop, or a self-care practice. (comment if you need more info on how to lead a rich life without a full bank account)!

Lie #3: "That’s Just the Way I Am."

The truth: That’s how you’ve coped, not who you are.
We’ve all said this at some point: “I’m just not a confident person.” “I can’t help it—I procrastinate.” But here's the thing: you didn’t come into this world as a procrastinator, a people-pleaser, or someone who shrinks in front of the spotlight. These behaviors are learned to protect us in some way. The world (especially the patriarchy) taught us that we had to stay small to be safe.

But here’s the real truth: You get to choose who you become. These behaviors don’t define you. You can unlearn them, and you can step into your full power.

Action Step:
The next time you catch yourself saying, “That’s just how I am,” pause. Is that really true, or is that just a belief you’ve been holding onto to stay safe? Commit to one small change today: speak up in a conversation, say “no” when you need to, or make a decision that pushes you out of your comfort zone.

Lie #4: "I Need to Be Good Enough First."

The truth: Confidence doesn’t come first. Action comes first.
The patriarchy tells us that we need to be “perfect” before we take action, that we need to be fully prepared and totally confident before we do anything. But guess what? Confidence is built through action, not the other way around.

When you start acting, even if it’s messy, confidence follows. You don’t need to wait for the perfect moment. You don’t need to be perfect. You just need to start.

Action Step:
Pick something you’ve been avoiding because you feel you’re not “ready.” Just do it—imperfectly. Whether it’s starting a new project, sending an email, or having that tough conversation, just take the first step. Confidence will build from there.

Lie #5: "It’s Too Late For Me."

The truth: It’s never too late.
The systems we live under—capitalism and patriarchy—have sold us a story that we must achieve everything by a certain age. If you haven’t made it by 30, well, good luck. But that is a lie. There is no age limit on starting something new.

Time is not the enemy. It’s a tool you can use however you choose.

Action Step:
Think about something you’ve been telling yourself “it’s too late” to start. What if you reclaim that opportunity? Start it today. No more waiting. No more feeling behind. The only limit is the one you place on yourself.

Lie #6: "What If I Fail?"

The truth: Failure is feedback.
We’ve been taught to fear failure like it’s the worst possible thing that could happen. But the truth is, failure is a teacher. It’s the way we learn what doesn’t work. Every time we fail, we get closer to success.

The more you fail, the more you learn. And learning is what helps you grow.

Action Step:
Set a goal to fail on purpose. Yep, I said it. Aim to fail. Each failure gets you closer to where you need to be. Celebrate the lessons you learn from failure, and know that each one is moving you forward.

The Truth Beneath It All

The truth is, we’ve all been living these lies because we’ve been taught to. Patriarchy, capitalism, and societal pressures tell us to work harder, to shrink, to be perfect—and to believe these lies about ourselves.
But the moment you see these lies for what they are—stories designed to keep you small—is the moment you reclaim your power.

You are enough.
You have time.
You can afford it.
It’s never too late.
Failure is just feedback.

It all starts with seeing these lies for what they are and making the decision to stop believing them. And that’s how you start living your truth.
